Revised Stay at Home Order - Additional Guidance
IADA's May 1st bulletin included an explanation of how the Governor's revised Stay at Home Order (Executive Order 2020-32) that took effect 5/1 affects dealers. At press time we were working from a draft version of the order, which has now been finalized. A copy of the new Executive Order can be found here.

The bulletin's guidance still holds, but one more piece of the puzzle has surfaced. Executive Order 2020-32 requires employers to post a COVID-19 Workplace Health and Safety Guidance for Employees and Staff of Businesses. A copy of the new poster can be found here. Although not present in the Executive Order, the Health and Safety poster requires a person who believes that 2 or more employees at the workplace have COVID-19, the person should notify his or her local department of public health.

Continual Efforts Underway to Open Dealerships
The Governor's revised stay at home order which took effect on May 1st is a continuation of the original stay at home order, plus face mask requirements in certain situations. See IADA Bulletin dated May 1, 2020. On April 17, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) revised its guidance on Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers to include workers involved in motor vehicle sales and distribution as essential workers.

With CISA's revised guidance, some states whose dealerships sales departments were completely closed have begun to partially open up dealership sales departments to better serve their customers.

In Illinois while the stay at home order allows for sales by appointment and internet sales only we are continuing to provide information to the Governor and Legislators, including CISA's revised guidance, of the importance of motor vehicle sales and distribution channels to support critical infrastructure.
