Send All Voided Inventory to IADA-CVR not SOS
|
|
|
Just a reminder - all voided CVR inventory should be returned to IADA-CVR, not SOS. We have been informed that SOS has recently received packets of voided inventory from several dealerships in error.
Our obvious goal is to ensure that dealers manage their inventory and avoid SOS $151 fines. When inventory is sent anywhere other than to the IADA office (address below), there is no guarantee that it will be properly forwarded to us for verification.

As always, thanks for partnering with us on our IADA-CVR program!
IL SOS INVENTORY RETURN RULES
Below are the Illinois Secretary of State inventory return rules that will apply to the IADA-CVR program and any other Electronic Vehicle Registration Programs that choose to do business in Illinois.
The rules state the following:
- All EVR clients must return voided license plates and registration certificates (bar-coded paper where the expiration sticker is attached to) to the IADA on a regular basis to be "verified". PLEASE KEEP COPIES AND PROOF OF DELIVERY OF EVERYTHING SENT.
- A Police Report must be filed and faxed to IADA (217) 753-3424 for any stolen plates / registration certificates. Reports for missing or misplaced inventory are not accepted.
- If the above inventory maintenance procedures are not followed, clients will be responsible for a $151 fine per each un-accounted for plate and/or registration certificate (inventory not "verified" by IADA). This fine will be levied on a MONTHLY basis.
- It is the responsibility of clients managing inventory to verify all items in a purchase order are physically present before electronically receiving the shipment for use in the CIM program. If the disposition of inventory lost in a shipment is not communicated to the IADA within 5 (five) business days of receipt, the fine(s) for unaccounted inventory will be applied upon reconciling.
It is the goal of IADA and CVR that no client should ever receive a fine. Please review your internal procedures to ensure that your plate and registration certificate inventory is secure. All clients managing inventory should reconcile on a WEEKLY BASIS at a minimum.
