SOS REVISES THEIR PROCESS FOR ERT STATUS LOOKUPS (The information below was provided by SOS) The Secretary of State will no longer be providing a status update spreadsheet as of 9-6-2022. Please follow these instructions for obtaining a status update on your document number: - Go to ILSOS.GOV
- At the top, click on "Online Services"
- Under the "vehicles" section, the fifth option down says "electronic registration and title"
- Scroll to the middle of the page and you will see "track existing ERT document", click on "electronic registration and title status inquiry
- Put in the document number of the deal to obtain a status on what department it is currently with.
CVR transactions that are over 90 days from the receipt date at the state, in ERT, and have not been issued, can be emailed to CVR support or your account executive to request further review by the state. If you receive a message that your document is in error control, please contact the phone number or email address provided in the SOS response. SOS ERT status page CVR TRAINING BULLETIN - SECURE POWER OF ATTORNEY The issue of when to use a Power of Attorney or a Secure Power of Attorney form tends to be one of the most common reasons for rejected applications from the IL SOS. In addition to which form to use, there also seem to be frequent issues with how to correctly complete the form. When a vehicle requires an odometer reading and the dealer is using a POA, then a Red Secure POA must be used. Vehicles that require an odometer statement are 2011 and newer. Click here for a short CVR training bulletin. Starting October 1st, 2022, the state will return any Secure POA that has information completed in both Sections A and B, but not completed in Section C. Several dealerships have had a change in their DMS regarding how their Secure POA's are printed. If this applies to your dealership, please contact your DMS and get this fixed immediately. It states clearly on the Secure POA that if Sections A & B are completed, then Section C must also be completed. The state has decided to give dealerships until Sept. 30th to get this corrected in their DMS. If you do not need Section B completed, make sure there is no information in any of those fields on the form. As always, IADA appreciates your participation in our Association CVR program and will never take your partnership for granted! |
