FY27 State Dept Budget - Tell the Senate to restore funding for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Exchange
The Senate Appropriations Committee will be marking up its version of FY27 State Department spending in the next several weeks. We have no time to lose to have our voices heard on the importance of the international scholarship, exchange and language programs operated by the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Exchange. And we need to be loud because last year the Bureau sustained a $74 million cut, the House Appropriations Committee just approved an additional $20 million cut for FY27, and the President has proposed an even deeper cut of $451 million in FY27. Virtually all major programs would be eliminated or severely limited if the President’s proposal becomes law.

Please send an email to your Senators and Representatives and urge them to restore funding to FY25 levels for the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Exchange. Your emails must go up as soon as possible.
