  Department Announces Pesticide Disposal Program for 2021  
 

The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) today announced that it will reconstitute its Pesticide Disposal Program. This free program allows farmers across the state to safely and properly dispose of any unwanted or unusable agricultural pesticides. The Pesticide Disposal Program is run in partnership with the Maryland Department of Environment (MDE) and University of Maryland Extension (UME). More here.

  Department Awards $2.9 Million in Animal Waste Technology Fund Grants  
 

The Maryland Department of Agriculture has awarded more than $2.9 million in grants from its Animal Waste Technology Fund that aim to increase environmental benefits for chicken and dairy operations. The grants were awarded as part of the state's commitment to help farmers improve how they manage animal manure, protect natural resources, and pursue clean and renewable energy sources.   MDFB Young Farmers Announce Return of the Summer Picnic!  
 

Join your fellow Maryland Farm Bureau Young Farmers for the anticipated return of the summer picnic! Enjoy an early evening of networking with your peers, delicious barbecue and social, and state-to-national competitions that will showcase the best of the future of Maryland agriculture.

This year the picnic will be held on Saturday, August 7th at the MDFB office in Davidsonville. Registration is $10 per person, and kids under 10 are FREE. Register here.

The American Farm Bureau Women's Leadership Committee will host the Women's Communications Boot Camp in Washington, D.C., November 2-5, 2021.

The deadline for submitting applications is August 19, 2021, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Women's Communications Boot Camp is an intensive training opportunity for any female Farm Bureau member interested in building skills needed to communicate about agriculture and for Farm Bureau. More here.
