Act Now for Pharmacist Prescribed Hormonal Contraception
House Bills 5013, 5435, and 5436 has passed out of the House Health Policy Committee and must be voted on by the full House of Representatives. These bills would allow pharmacists to independently prescribe hormonal contraceptives and be reimbursed for the product and screening services. Additionally, the package also allows for patients to have access to up to a 12-month supply of hormonal contraception if appropriate for their circumstances. This type of service is offered in 27 other states. It is time that this service be allowed in Michigan.
