The Department of Education is looking to limit the degrees that are considered professional for student loan limits, including social work. This means that “non-professional” degrees will have lower student loan limits. NASW is alarmed by this action and will work to reverse it. “This is a time when we need all social workers to speak up. We want to let everyone, including policymakers, know about the power of social work and our profession,” said NASW CEO, Anthony Estreet, PhD, MBA, LCSW-C.
As we work with our lobbying agency to advocate against this, we urge our New Jersey community to speak out as well. Our impact as a community has made a huge difference in our advocacy efforts in the past, and we know we can make a difference here. It’s critical we let everyone know LOUD and CLEAR that social work is a profession!
