The Improving Access to Mental Health Act is critical for Medicare beneficiaries to receive mental health services by supporting an essential provider of those services, Clinical Social Workers (CSWs). This legislation, S. 870/H.R. 2035, is bipartisan and bicameral. CSWs have been included in the Medicare program since 1989, but updates are urgently needed to meet current and projected needs in our community. The passage of this bill would allow for increased reimbursement rates for CSWs, increased access to mental health services for residents of skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and increase support for Medicare beneficiaries dealing with physical health conditions.
This bill would allow for more people to receive care and for social workers to be compensated fairly for their services. Your support, and therefore your representative's support, is vital for improving access to mental health services provided by social workers.
