Large technology companies, such as Amazon, Google, Apple, and Meta, are often the platform of choice for small business owners to reach a larger customer base. However, reports of stolen product designs, unfair promotional practices, and unclear and changing rules make using these platforms challenging and costly for small businesses.

Congress is considering legislation that would bring transparency and competitiveness to online marketplace platforms through the American Innovation and Choice Online Act. If passed and signed into law, the legislation would prohibit Big Tech companies from:

  • Conditioning access or preferred status on a platform based on the purchase or use of other products offered by the Big Tech company.
  • Giving preferred status or placement of their own products, services, or lines of business over small business users.
  • Unfairly limiting small business users' products that compete against a Big Tech platform’s product.
  • Discrimination in enforcement of Platform Rules and Terms of Service.
  • Restricting business owners' ability to operate on different platforms.
  • Using non-public data obtained from or generated by a Big Tech platform to compete against a Small Business user.

Big Tech is saying that if this legislation passes, the perks of fast shipping and other discounts will disappear. Don't let Big Tech control the narrative! This legislation won’t stop Big Tech’s ability to make a profit and offer customer perks. This legislation will simply stop the harmful treatment of USA-based small businesses that are selling goods and services on their platforms.

Thank you for taking action now to tell Congress to support small businesses by stopping Big Tech's anticompetitive behavior!
