  NJPTA LEADERSHIP TRAINING SERIES  
 

Whether you are a new PTA leader, in a new role as a PTA leader, or a returning PTA leader, the Leadership Training Series will help you with the essential tools to run your PTA effectively.  Remember, the NJPTA Standards of Affiliation requires all PTA officers to be trained each year they hold a leadership position.


All leadership training workshops are now recorded and posted to the virtual
leadership series webpage.  You need to register and pay a $5.00 fee to receive access to the recordings/webpage.  An evaluation must be completed for each workshop recording you view so you can receive your certificate - you must view at least 3 recordings to receive credit for your training requirement.

  2023 - 2025 NJPTA Nominating Committee Report  
 

The New Jersey PTA Nominating Committee reports the following slate of officers for the 2023 - 2025 term:

President-Elect - Lisa Clarke, Burlington County

Vice President of Leadership Development - Sarita Dodd, Ocean County

Vice President of Advocacy - Jacqueline Gibbs, Burlington County

Secretary - Veena Pai, Mercer County

Treasurer - Nancy Wallace, Bergen County

Region Directors (5 Positions)

Jennifer D'Antuono (Middlesex County); Karen Diggs (Essex County); April Maxwell-Henley (Burlington County); Carey Smith (Essex County); Kathleen Witcher (Essex County)

Please note that nominations are not in order for the President position, as the current President-Elect, Sharon Roseboro, automatically becomes President, having been elected in March 2021.

The following provisions govern the qualifications and eligibility of individuals to be members of the Board of Directors of New Jersey PTA:

Each Board Member: Must be a member of a Local PTA or the Garden State PTA at the beginning of their term on the board; The President and President-Elect candidates must have served at least four (4) years on the Board of Directors; Any person employed or under contract of New Jersey PTA shall not serve on the Board of Directors.

Call for Self-Declared Candidates

Per New Jersey PTA Bylaws, nominations may also be made from the floor, New Jersey PTA Policies and Procedures lay out the following procedures for marking nominations from the floor:

Qualified persons may self-declare candidacy by submitting electronically all required documents indicating their intent to run by Tuesday, March 7, 2023. 

Written notification must be sent to the President (president@njpta.org); Nominating Committee Chair (nominations@njpta.org); and Secretary (secretary@njpta.org).

In addition, the following forms must be submitted for your self-declared candidacy to be announced:

1. Self-Declare Candidacy Form

2. Resume/Bio Form

3. Signature of Agreement/Submission Form

Once these three forms have been submitted, your information will be reviewed and posted as a candidate.

  25 Year Group  
 

Have you been a member of the PTA for 25 years or more?

The New Jersey PTA has the distinction of having the only 25-year group in the National PTA. The group comprises men and women who have been a member of the PTA for 25 years or more. Anyone meeting that qualification and a current member of a local unit is eligible to join. The 25 years need not be consecutive.

 

Membership in the group costs $10.00, including a pin in the form of an acorn with the numeral "25" and a permanent membership card. After that, dues of $2.00 per year are required to remain in good standing. To present membership in the 25-Year Group or become a member yourself, please send the following information along with a check to the "25-Year Group -New Jersey PTA" to our treasurer:

We meet once a year at the Annual New Jersey PTA Convention, where we have a luncheon, visit and reconnect with many friends from our past, and make new friends.

Taking place March 7-8, LegCon is an excellent opportunity to interact with fellow PTA leaders and child advocates; get an insider’s look at National PTA’s legislative priorities for the 118th 

Congress; learn how to impact policy decisions at the local, state, and national levels; and meet with your members of Congress to discuss the issues important to you and your

community.

Join New Jersey PTA at the National PTA Legislative Convention

 

This year's Legislative Convention will be held on Tuesday, March 7 - Wednesday, March 8, 2023, and participation will be virtual.  We are looking for local leaders to join the New Jersey PTA delegation to attend the workshops on Tuesday for advocacy training and to join us at our meetings with our members of congress on Wednesday.  This year's LegCon is $50 per person, and registration is currently open.  NJPTA is offering scholarships for this year's LegCon for up to four (4) local leaders.  If you are interested and would like to be considered for one of the scholarships, fill out the questions below and let us know in 200 words or less why you would like to attend this year's LegCon and how it would benefit you and your PTA.  The Deadline to apply is Thursday, February 9th, by 5 pm ET.
