Over the past few years I have had the opportunity to take part in region and unit events throughout the state: from Long Island to Niagara Falls and most areas in between. I was invited to speak or give training to unit and region members, but the cool part is what I learned from speaking with you, the members.

We have received many questions regarding the NYS PTA Bylaws Notification email sent on Wednesday, October 12.

Please note that at this time, units do not have to act in any way, nor change their own bylaws. Any updates needed will be completed by the NYS PTA Office. Members and units don't need to do anything other than be aware that the provisions noted on the compliance list are now the current provisions.

State Education Department Released Draft Revised ELA and Math Standards

The State Education Department (SED) released draft revised learning standards in English Language Arts and Math.
 
As a reminder, SED is seeking input into these revised standards, no later than November 14:
English Language Arts draft revised standards
Math draft revised standards

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Saturday, October 15, 2016, 1:00pm

Hosted by Genesee Valley Region

Location: Monroe 1 BOCES, 15 Linden Park, Rochester NY 14625

This two week-long public access art exhibit features the original multimedia artwork of the 2015-2016 NYS PTA Reflections Award of Excellence and Award of Merit students.

The NYS PTA Reflections Art Roadshow mission is to bring communities together in celebration of student success in the PTA Reflections Program, while advocating for quality arts education for all children.

We hope you can join us for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony, featuring student performers, a multimedia student art display and remarks from New York State PTA, Genesee Valley Region PTA, and other special guests.

Let's celebrate the arts and our students together.
