Is There a Leader in You?

Advocating for our families and making every child's potential a reality takes the passion and dedication of many volunteers.

Leaders at the state level of PTA come from all corners of our state. The legacy of NYS PTA continues to thrive because of the leaders developed from local unit, council and region PTAs, as well as those who bring specific volunteer and/or professional expertise to our advocacy.

Please complete the Letter of Interest form by January 20, 2019 if you might consider contributing your skills to the work of the NYS PTA. It's a short form that indicates your interests and possible areas of involvement on the NYS PTA Governance Team, or perhaps on a different level such as a PTA region board. Leaders at the PTA region and state level are appointed for one year.

We look forward to hearing from you! Thank you for your willingness to share your time and talents!

  Did You Know?

Copyright law requires a user have the appropriate permission from the rights holder when using media in a public setting, such as a school building. This includes images, music, movies, etc. (watch this video for more info).

Even when no admission is charged, a movie license is still required. This applies to any showings outside of the educational exemption, and for all organizations - including nonprofits. (For the educational exemption to apply, it must be shown: in the classroom, with a teacher present, only to enrolled students, and be part of the core curriculum)

You can be fined upwards of $750 per copyright violation and it could reach as high as $250,000.

Public Performance rights vary between movie licensing providers and there is no overlap in coverage. Swank Movie Licensing USA is the only company that provides licensing in K-12 schools for many major studios, including  Walt Disney Pictures.

New York State PTA makes copyright compliance easy with a Swank Movie Licensing partnership and exclusive savings!

We work with thousands of schools across the state of New York. Contact Jacinda Corsi to find out if your school already has an active license!
