We Support Patient Safety
NYSSOS is supporting legislation that calls for an evaluation of the results of allowing podiatrists to perform standard or advanced ankle surgery.

Before expanding podiatric surgery privileges, we need to understand how it affects safety and outcomes. This bill requires the State Education Department to study podiatric ankle surgery training and outcomes before authorizing more complex procedures.

Why it matters:
Complex ankle surgeries like total ankle replacements carry serious risks. Expanding scope without a clear review of training and safety is reckless.

The study will provide a report on the effects of granting such privileges, and will require a detailed analysis of how granting these privileges has influenced access to and the quality of ankle surgery performed by podiatrists.

Take Action: Ask your legislator to vote YES on S3108 / A5097.
