Missouri's S.B. 528 Protects Show Me Workers - Assigned to New Senate Committee, Take Action!!

S.B. 528 Assigned to Senate General Laws Committee - Take Action!

E-Verify ensures the end of illegal hiring!
Tell Your Legislators to Prioritize Passing S.B. 528 this Session!

Expanding E-Verify to ALL businesses for ALL new hires in Missouri would deter illegal hiring, fostering recruitment from and investment in the Show Me State's legal workforce. Promoting a fair and just employment landscape through E-Verify helps protect Missouri workers from the consequences of mass migration felt throughout the nation's labor market.

Thankfully, Jefferson City already has a legislative effort to do just that - Senator Doug Beck's S.B. 528!

Requiring E-Verify for all in Missouri would increase wage growth for lawful employees and end exploitation by businesses that skirt the law.

Now is the time to demand that your State Senators support E-Verify legislation by cosponsoring S.B. 528 and doing everything they can to pass it into law this year!

Most companies in Missouri want to do the right thing! Still, they are undercut by unscrupulous businesses (and their lobbyists) that unfairly thrive on cheaper, exploitable, illegal labor. This process harms the rule of law and lowers Americans’ wages.

S.B. 528's Sponsor, Senator Doug Beck, served on the 2022 Missouri Senate Interim Committee on Illegal Immigration, whose goal was to understand and identify ways to discourage illegal immigration and capture revenues the state is missing from the unlawful practice. When it came to the topic of unscrupulous employers hiring illegal aliens in Missouri, the committee concluded:

We’ve got to figure out a way to stop these bad companies that are not playing by the rules because it creates an unfair advantage … I refuse to believe we can’t do something, we can do something, this is why we are here together, to serve the business community and its constituents ... We need to protect Missouri employers and employees who follow the rules and do the right thing, rather than protect and conceal those who don’t." - Chairman Justin Brown

Senator Doug Beck added:

Good Missouri contractors are being put at [a dis]advantage due to other contractors exploiting people trying to better their lives.

E-Verify levels the playing field for employers and workers!

There is no excuse for allowing employers to hire illegal aliens in Missouri, especially since it makes Show Me jobs a magnet for the millions of recent illegal border-crossers. On that topic, one study showed that passing or expanding E-Verify requirements and turning off the jobs magnet in a state could reduce that state’s illegal alien population by up to 83%.

If your State Senator is on the General Laws Committee, tell them you expect them to move S.B. 528 out of the Committee and to the Senate floor.

If your Senator is not on the committee, tell them you expect them to stand up for Missouri workers and their communities by supporting and voting in favor of S.B. 528!

(Don't worry; our system will determine if your Senator is on the Committee and only show you messages appropriate for your elected official!)
