Urge Sen. John Kennedy to Support Mandatory E-Verify
Sen. John Kennedy has previously co-sponsored legislation to mandate use of the E-Verify system.  Requiring all employers to use the E-Verify system to verify new hires would prevent illegal workers from finding U.S. jobs and remove the “jobs magnet” that attracts illegal aliens and encourage visa-overstaying.  NOW is the time for Sen. Kennedy to once again co-sponsor the Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act, Sen. Chuck Grassley’s S. 1151, to require all employers to utilize the E-Verify system.

Currently, employers have little to fear from hiring illegal workers, meaning there is both an incentive for unscrupulous employers to use illegal labor and an expectation among those who enter the U.S. illegally that jobs are easy to come by.  The Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act would require all employers to use E-Verify to check the work authorization for all new hires - and all existing employees who have not yet been checked - within one year, and increase penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal workers.  The legislation also includes provisions to detect identity theft and unauthorized aliens using false or stolen Social Security numbers.

Please send a message to Sen. Kennedy and urge him to co-sponsor S. 1151, the Accountability Through Electronic Verification Act, to mandate use of the E-Verify system and remove the jobs magnet that attracts illegal labor.
