The House has drafted a budget "reconciliation" bill that is an affront to both decency and fiscal responsibility. In their plan, the wealthiest Americans would receive huge tax cuts, allowing them to pay far less than their fair share and adding trillions to the debt. 

The Child Tax Credit (CTC) is a prime example. In 2021, the CTC was expanded to all families with low incomes. As a result, child poverty dropped by almost half. What a difference four years makes.

But in this bill, lawmakers want to increase the CTC, but only for wealthier families. Worse yet, they want to deny the CTC to 4.5 million U.S. citizen children who have at least one immigrant parent. Coupled with massive cuts to health care, food assistance, and other vital services, these changes will force millions into or deeper into poverty.

Email your members of Congress and tell them to reject the disastrous House reconciliation bill.
