Urge your Member of Congress to Support IR and Physicians by Addressing Medicare Pay Cuts
Following Congressional inaction to stop the cuts finalized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Calendar Year (CY) 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) Final Rule, physician payments were reduced by an additional 2.83%, effective January 1, 2025. This is now the fifth consecutive year of Medicare physician payment cuts. These cuts, combined with ongoing inflationary costs, can limit access to IR services, stifle investment and innovation, and negatively impact patient access and care.

SIR is asking that you contact your Member of Congress to support the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act (H.R. 879, S. 1640). This legislation would eliminate the pay cut that took effect on Jan. 1 and give Medicare clinicians a long-overdue inflation-based update to help reflect the rising costs of providing the important type of healthcare offered by interventional radiology (IR).

H.R. 879 offers short-term relief from a broken Medicare system that continually fails to address rising inflation and declining reimbursement for physicians. SIR is also asking Congress to pass legislation that provides permanent, annual inflationary Medicare physician payment updates tied to a full Medical Economic Index (MEI).
