Improve Access to Mental Health Treatments through physical health for Disabled Veterans
Contact your representatives both in the Senate and Assembly to co-sponsor a bill addressing the use of SUNY and CUNY health facilities. This important legislation—S07784 and A06001—focuses on the issuance of pool and health memberships to disabled Veterans at SUNY and CUNY campuses at no cost or a reduced fee. We consistently hear about the need for improved treatment for PTSD among our Veterans and the troubling number of suicides within our community.

The benefits of physical exercise extend beyond physical health; they are a significant factor in supporting mental health, potentially accounting for as much as a 60/40 split in overall well-being. Additionally, the positive social interactions that occur at these facilities can help foster a sense of belonging and support. Since these facilities already exist and are funded in part, this statewide legislation would have no additional impact on taxpayers.

Help reduce the negative impact of PTSD and suicide among our disabled Veteran ranks. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have served.
