Take Action Healthcare Professionals: Protect Access to Professional Graduate Education

The U.S. Department of Education has adopted a narrow definition of “professional” that risks excluding large portions of the healthcare workforce from critical education and loan programs.

Healthcare is delivered by interdisciplinary teams — nurses, therapists, technologists, social workers, behavioral health professionals, and others — many of whom rely on advanced education and federal loan programs to serve patients in our communities.

Congress must act to ensure federal education policies reflect the realities of modern healthcare and do not unintentionally worsen workforce shortages or limit access to care.
