We need your help to reach out to members of the General Assembly in support of HB883 – Support Students with Disabilities Act. Currently, children with disabilities who have more extensive needs are often unable to access their education, or even their school buildings, due to restrictive practices such as frequent informal removals and modified day/home-bound placements. Being unable to access school is devastating for these children and their families. The Support Students with Disabilities Act would create a program to assist school districts with funding the support and services in IEPs for children with more extensive support needs.
The most important thing right now is to get the funds included in the budget. Therefore, we are asking you to reach out to your state representatives by sending a message to your legislators utilizing this advocacy campaign.
When reaching out, please explain why this issue is so important to you, and then ask that they work to include the relevant appropriation for HB 883 in the budget.
Thank you in advance for your efforts on this! We are so close to getting this legislation passed, which would be life-changing for so many children and families!
