Take action and send messages to your federal lawmakers urging them to prioritize support for academic nursing, sharing our top priorities, and letting them know of the issues impacting our nursing schools, faculty, and students, including:
• Providing at least $530 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs in Fiscal Year (FY) 2026, which have positively impacted the profession’s ability to serve patients by addressing all aspects of nursing workforce demand, including education, practice, recruitment, and retention.
• Retaining the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) as an independent Institute within NIH, supporting at least $210 million for NINR in FY 2026, and highlighting the essential role of our nurse researchers and scientists as they make groundbreaking and lifesaving discoveries that inform nursing practice and education.
• Cosponsoring and passing the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025 (S.1874/H.R.3593).
• Cosponsoring and passing the Providing Real-World Education and Clinical Experience by Precepting Tomorrow’s (PRECEPT) Nurses Act (S.131/H.R.392).
• Cosponsoring and passing the Nurse Corps Tax Parity Act (S.1548/H.R.3145).
• Sharing how nursing education, particularly at the baccalaureate, graduate, and post-graduate levels, helps meet ongoing healthcare demands.
