Tell Trenton to Oppose APN Independent Practice Now - Protect Patient Safety and Stop S-2996
The New Jersey Legislature is considering S2996 which would grant independent practice authority for APNs/NPs in all specialty areas and eliminate longstanding physician collaboration requirements across nearly all practice settings. If enacted, S2996 would allow APNs with as little as 24 months or 2,400 hours of experience to practice independently (even in the ED) and for CRNAs to administer anesthesia without physician supervision without team-based safeguards that have long protected patients in New Jersey.

The Legislature is hearing from the all nurses -CRNAs, RNs, APNs telling legislators that APNs and CRNAs have been practicing without physician collaboration since 2020 during the pandemic Executive Order that waived oversight - - so they need to hear from emergency medicine NOW to share the reality of team-based practice in the ED and highlight our concerns on the impact of this type of bill on patient safety.
