Ask Governor Sherrill Not to Sign S2996/A4052 – It will not Improve Access to Care and Removes Key Patient Protections
The New Jersey Legislature approved S2996/A4052, which authorizes independent practice authority for APNs/NPs in primary care and behavioral health, eliminating longstanding physician collaboration requirements in all practice settings. If Governor Sherrill signs S2996/A4052, APNs with as little as 5,000 hours working in a role within their “population focus” would be authorized to independently practice primary care and behavioral health without limitation.

Governor Sherrill needs to hear from emergency medicine NOW to share what we see every day when patients are sent to the ED by independent APNs and your concerns on the impact of this type of bill on patient safety.
