Please Take Action to Oppose the Equality Act
Action Alert

Dear School Leader:

The U.S. House has passed the Equality Act on February 25, 2021. Now our efforts to defeat the Equality Act must shift to the Senate where this bill is  expected to be taken up in the coming days.  We are grateful you are willing to help, and ask you to click HERE to send an email to your Senators instead of to your Representative.  You may safely ignore the original action item below. Thank you!

Legislation with strong negative consequences for Christian schools is once again scheduled to be on the floor of the House of Representatives as early as Thursday, February 25.  It is important for the Christian school community, including your staff and parents, to express our views to Congress.

Please contact your Congressman – personally if you know him or her – and urge your Member of Congress to vote against H.R. 5, the Equality Act, when it comes up for a vote.  If your school serves more than one Congressional District, please reach out to each Member of Congress who represents your school families.

The Equality Act (H.R. 5) mandates one government-approved vision of human sexuality.  It brooks no exceptions.  It is so extreme that, unlike almost all state and local sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) requirements, the Equality Act allows no exemptions for religious non-profits.

The legislation even goes so far as to explicitly ban any appeal to the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) which merely gives a religious entity its day in court when faith and government policy conflict.  The Equality Act forbids even that.

Please contact your Member of Congress today to express your concern.  Simply urge your Representative to vote against H.R. 5, the Equality Act.

If you need more information, feel free to consult the All for Freedom website which includes a wide array of helpful resourcesACSI’s letter to the House Subcommittee is also very useful.  More, and updated, information is found on ACSI's Equality Act Resource webpage.

Thank you for taking action today.

Respectfully,

Stephen J. Novotny
Vice President for Public Policy & General Counsel

P. George Tryfiates
Director for Government Affairs
