The Improving Care and Access to Nurses (I CAN) Act (S.575 and H.R. 1317) aims to ensure that Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) can practice at the top of their license under Medicare and Medicaid. Specifically, the bill removes longstanding federal barriers to allow Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries to receive timely care from their chosen health care provider, provided they live in a state that grants full practice authority to APRNs.
