Stop Cuts to Occupational Therapy: Tell Congress to Support the RECOVER Act

Occupational therapy services have faced years of reduced Medicare payment due to an arbitrary payment policy called the multiple procedure payment reduction (MPPR). This policy—implemented by Congress in 2013—was not based on an analysis of the actual cost of delivering care, yet it results in an estimated 16% reduction in total payment for therapy services. Additional broad Medicare cuts since 2021, have made a difficult situation worse, leading to payment rates that many occupational therapy practitioners say are no longer sustainable. Congress now has a chance to fix this. The RECOVER Act (H.R. 8386) would eliminate the MPPR. Please contact your Member of Congress and ask them to cosponsor the bill.
