Medicare reimbursement for physician and physical therapist-provided services has dropped precipitously over the last two decades. At a time of rising costs and increasing inflation, physical and occupational therapists need stable, predictable Medicare reimbursement.
To help prevent automatic cuts to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS), bipartisan leaders in Congress have introduced the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act (H.R. 8163). This bipartisan bill would make important technical changes to help stabilize the MPFS by increasing the budget neutrality threshold for the first time since 1992 and limiting year-to-year variance in the conversion factor by 2.5%. This modernization of the Medicare reimbursement system is long overdue – and will help ensure continued access to the physical and occupational therapy services Americans rely on to recover from injury and illness.
Please urge your U.S. Representative to co-sponsor H.R. 8163. Please send a letter to Congress in support of the Provider Reimbursement Stability Act.
