Your action is needed now! Ask your member of Congress to support the reintroduced Radiation Oncology Case Rate (ROCR) Value Based Payment Program Act of 2025. Recent Medicare payment changes are causing significant financial harm to cancer clinics and threatening patient access to radiation therapy. A recent ASTRO survey found that two-thirds of physicians surveyed reported declines of 10% or greater, with many clinics anecdotally reporting cuts in the 20-30% range.
ROCR would usher in long-term payment stability after years of declines and consolidation. Led by Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Rep. John Joyce, MD (R-PA), and Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY), ROCR is a viable payment reform proposal that would increase access to care, improve the quality of cancer treatment, reduce disparities for rural and underserved patients, encourage innovation, and lower Medicare spending and patient costs. It’s supported by more than 115 organizations, including physician groups, patients, freestanding clinics, hospitals, industry and more.
WHY NOW: Medicare payment for radiation therapy services is broken and needs immediate reform before more cuts are implemented. The status quo is unsustainable. ROCR will provide relief from both further cuts and decouple payments from volume, supporting high quality of care.
This is a unique opportunity to secure payment stability immediately and into the future. Your story, as a constituent, provides the most influential insight for Congressional offices and pulls immense weight in getting members to cosponsor the bill. The more cosponsors, the better chances for passage, so please act now!
