Right now, the health care system in Gaza is collapsing —
94% of hospitals have been damaged or destroyed, and thousands of civilians are unable to access critical care. The World Health Organization estimates that
over 18,500 patients — including approximately 4,000 children — urgently need medical evacuation to receive life-saving treatment. Tragically,
more than 1,000 patients have already died while waiting.
While a few hundred medical evacuations occurred in February 2026, at the current pace, it would take nearly four years for all patients on the list to receive treatment. Immediate action is required. We urge the State Department and U.S. leadership to:
- Work with Israeli authorities and international partners to reopen the medical corridor between Gaza and the East Jerusalem Hospital Network (EJHN);
- Facilitate medical evacuations for critically ill and injured Palestinians;
- Work with Israeli authorities and international partners to rebuild accessible hospitals and medical infrastructure;
- Secure unimpeded humanitarian access for medical supplies, food, and water; and
- Press for the immediate release of detained Palestinian doctors, nurses, and paramedics held without charge.
