Five-year-old Hind Rajab was killed in Gaza on January 29, 2024, alongside six members of her family after their vehicle came under attack. Two paramedics attempting to rescue her were also killed. Her story became a global symbol of the devastating toll the conflict has taken on civilians and children.
The Justice for Hind Rajab Act calls for accountability and reaffirms the importance of protecting civilians under international humanitarian law. The legislation would:
- Require a State Department report on investigations into the deaths of Hind Rajab, her family and the paramedics who attempted to rescue her
- Ensure compliance with U.S. laws prohibiting assistance to foreign security units implicated in gross human rights violations
- Require the Secretary of State and Attorney General to certify efforts to investigate and prosecute those responsible
As civilians in Gaza continue to face immense humanitarian suffering, Congress must support transparency, accountability and the protection of innocent lives.
Please contact your Senators and Representative today and urge them to support the Justice for Hind Rajab Act.
