Urge Congress to Provide Emergency Relief to Non-Profit Employees Not Covered by Unemployment Insurance
Things are moving rapidly in Washington, DC, with regard to a third supplemental bill specifically targeting relief during the current COVID-19 crisis.  Text for the Senate CARES Act was released last evening but the current draft does NOT address unemployment insurance for non-profit employees, though there is interest from Members of Congress to fix this.

In light of this quickly moving package, we are ask you to contact our Senators Feinstein and Harris as well as your Representative TODAY, to make sure they are aware of this problem of non-profit employees in multiple states who do not currently have access to state unemployment insurance, and to ask that they support an effective solution.

We specifically ask that Congress provide emergency disaster unemployment assistance to workers that are not covered by state unemployment insurance.  As a second option, we suggest the following, which would also provide unemployment insurance to non-covered employees by allowing employers to opt into state unemployment insurance for a certain period.

Please ask our US Senators and your US Representative to provide emergency disaster unemployment assistance to workers that are not covered by state unemployment insurance.
