Take Action Now: Urge Governor Newsom to Sign AB 2551 (Elhawary)!

AB 2551 (Elhawary) is currently sitting on Governor Newsom's desk after passing the Assembly Floor on August 31, 2026. 

Please take action now by urging Governor Newsom to sign AB 2551. 

This bill would: 

  1. Require the collection and sharing of demographic data on those accused of violating campus time, place and manner (TPM) restrictions in the University of California and California State University systems. This is an effort to measure whether or not there is inequitable application and/or punishment.
  2. Require the CSU and UC to hold a system-wide open forum on the impact of TPM restrictions on or before December 31, 2027 to elicit student, faculty, staff, and community feedback. 

Please consider the following actions: 

  1. Call Governor Newsom and urge him to sign AB 2551 (Elhawary): 916-445-2841
