SC DHHS Director, Eunice Medina, recently submitted a budget request of $203 million for the state’s fiscal year 2026-27 to ensure continued access to quality services for our state’s most vulnerable citizens. Adequate funding is essential to maintain services and ensure that healthcare providers continue to serve Medicaid patients without disruption. Failure to approve SCDHHS’s budget request could result in reduced provider participation, longer wait times, and diminished access to care for autism services.
The House adopted its version of the budget, which did not restore the cut to the Medicaid budget request. The budget now heads to the Senate. The Senate budget subcommittees are working on recommendations for the Senate Finance Committee’s consideration in April. Our legislators listen to what their constituents tell them.
