Oppose Cancellation of Critical Education Research
89 contracts at the Institute for Education Sciences (IES) in the U.S. Department of Education have been canceled, and Members of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) have confirmed receiving these cancelation notices. This will significantly impact education research. CEC members rely on this research and related technical assistance to serve children with disabilities. Canceling these research grants is a major setback for school leaders, teachers and infants, toddlers, children, and youth with disabilities. These grants were funded by Congress, and it's crucial for Congress to understand the gravity of this action and to vocalize their support for special education research.
