Cell-based and plant-based meats, such as Impossible Burger and Beyond Burger, could reduce emissions if they were produced at scale and accepted by the consumer. But research is needed into how to produce them sustainably, their health impacts, how to scale up production and reduce costs, and consumer messaging.
