Nutrition Incentive Programs in the Farm BIll
Food and land use emissions are about 25% of total US emissions and are growing. The Farm Bill is being reauthorized in 2023 for five years (till 2028). The largest Farm Bill expenditures (76%) are for SNAP, which provides food assistance to the 1/3 of US families with children who are food insecure. By providing incentives for fruit and vegetable purchasing, we can help families prepare healthier meals and reduce climate emissions associated with beef and other meat and dairy.
