I urge you to support the bipartisan Wildfire Technology Demonstration, Evaluation, Modernization, and Optimization Act (H.R. 4235) that would establish a wildfire technology Testbed Pilot Program.

This Act requires USDA and DOI to establish a Pilot Program for new and innovative wildfire prevention, detection, communication, and mitigation technologies. In these programs, private entities can partner with the federal agencies to test wildfire technologies alongside activities and training.

There are approximately 70,000 wildfires per year in the United States. It is critical that we employ and partner with private companies to help develop the best equipment and techniques for fighting the fires that threaten our vital infrastructure, homes, and communities.

By endorsing this Act, you are ensuring first responders have access to the most effective and innovative tools to prevent, detect, and contain wildfires.
