Climate Action Now

Tell your Senators to fund tree planting in historically marginalized communities
Urban neighborhoods with more people of color have 33% less canopy cover than majority white neighborhoods, and low-income neighborhoods have on average 41% less canopy cover than higher income neighborhoods. These serious disparities in tree cover can lead to sweltering heat in the summer, creating potentially unsafe conditions for residents. Planting trees and increasing greenspace would increase access to nature for residents, promoting better physical and mental health and supporting stronger communities while also fighting climate change through carbon sequestration. By supporting the Neighborhood Tree Act of 2023, we can promote equality, carbon mitigation, and better health for all.
