We need a third issue to galvanize these voters. And Bill McKibben makes a compelling case that that third issue should be climate change. Here are some of the reasons he gives:
1. Young voters respond to climate messaging. A recent poll found that a when given information about your environmental policies, a whopping 69% of 18–34-year-old voters approved of them.
2. Voters strongly dislike Trump's anti-environmental actions. Less than 1/3 approved of his decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement.
3. Climate change is directly impacting millions of people in ways they cannot ignore, from hurricanes to wildfires to massive heat waves.
Our planet is in dire peril. The Biden Administration has fought to protect it, while Trump has vowed to continue destroying it. Voters need to hear that message loud and clear between now and November.
