Although climate change action needs to be massively scaled up to meet the targets established by the Paris Agreement, this global effort has already kickstarted low-carbon solutions and the development of new markets. Carbon neutrality targets are becoming increasingly commonplace in all sectors and levels of government, a trend that is best seen in the power and transport sectors.

The UNFCCC estimates that "by 2030, zero-carbon solutions could be competitive in sectors representing over 70% of global emissions."
