Polluting facilities significantly worsen the environmental quality and health of surrounding areas, and they are disproportionately located in low-income Black and Brown communities. If we give agencies the power to deny permits based on the cumulative negative impact of facilities on environmental and public health, we get one step closer to limiting the amount of pollutants in these communities.
