Tell your state leaders to factor cumulative impact analyses into current permitting decisions
Facilities emit many pollutants in communities -- oftentimes those with high percentages of low-income people of color. The past environmental burden these communities carry also tends to be ignored, especially in the granting of new emissions permits to facilities. This legislation would help put a stop to that by requiring analyses of historical environmental burden to be conducted before any new permits are handed out. This policy has the potential to reduce the amount of emissions permits granted, and likely improve air quality in these areas.
