Like with compound interest, energy efficiency gains build wins upon wins... gradually. But the overall numeric effect would allow us to fully meet HALF of our 2030 emissions reductions goal, simply by spotting energy efficiency gains in our homes and regions. These gains are widely dispersed across the economy and can seem small, but add up to a huge win. The key is to be committed to continuous improvement.
It is also worth noting that these gains reduce energy and transportation costs for all, giving this idea bipartisan appeal. Between transportation, appliances, air conditioning, cooking and home heating, water use, LED lights, and more, the article and reference document below offer many ideas for improvement.
