Tell Congress to stop the sabotage of American energy by any means necessary!
A new report from leading think tank Ember calculates that global solar power installations rose by 64% from 282 GW in the first half of 2024 to 380 GW (380,000 MW) in the first half of 2025! Solar is also the fastest-growing source of new electricity generation (not just capacity!) worldwide.
For context, the world had 398 GW of nuclear power capacity total at the end of 2024. The amount of solar capacity installed in six months in 2025 is almost as much as all still-functioning nuclear capacity ever built.
This is a world-historic technological revolution — but America is falling behind. In H1 2025, China installed 256 GW, a full 67% of all global new solar power — twice as much new solar as the rest of the world combined.
India recorded the second-highest solar installations with 24 GW, up 49% from H1 2024, thus leapfrogging the USA which installed 21 GW, up just 4% from H1 2024.
China’s fossil fuel use has declined by 2% in the first half of 2025, as clean energy growth exceeded electricity demand growth.
China is filing three times more clean energy-related patents than the rest of the world combined, and investing approximately ten times more in energy research and development than the United States.
Yet at this critical juncture of human technological history, the United States executive branch is engaged in utterly egregious and often illegal sabotage efforts to attack the clean energy sources that are already providing over 90% of all new-built U.S. capacity!
This weakens national competitiveness in fields from AI to manufacturing while drastically raising electricity prices. To take just one of far too many examples, an insane and destructive stop-work order shut down the offshore Revolution Wind farm when construction was 80% complete! Solar farms out west are seeing completely unexplained permitting and regulatory delays. The White House is actively trying to find new ways to strangle America’s energy in red tape for no good reason at all.
In the upcoming budget negotiations, Congress must act to prevent executive sabotage and let American ingenuity work to build our piece of the clean energy future. Hold up nominees, include riders in must-pass bills, insist on red lines, even shut down the government — whatever it takes to let Americans build clean energy! The future is on the line.
Tell Congress to stop the sabotage of American energy by any means necessary!
