Tell your state leaders to support and incentivize solar towers!
Texas startup Janta Power is developing solar towers, angled 3D vertical structures that swivel to track the sun. Solar towers enable more energy-gathering solar panel area to be deployed on less land, making them ideal for space-constrained projects. They’re already set to be trialed at Dallas-Fort Worth and Munich’s international airports in the near future!
Janta reports that thanks to their efficient elevated shape, their prototypes harvest 3 times more power per area than traditional solar panel configuration, and that thanks to the more favorable angle towards sunlight they also generate 50% more energy than similar flat-panel systems. 5 kW towers are available now, 10 kW towers are in advanced development, and 1.5 kW and 8 kW towers are on the way. The startup recently secured a new $5.5 million seed round of investment and is planning to further accelerate their manufacturing, deployment, and expansion!
Along with floating solar, solar canals, solar on sheep farms, and wildlife-boosting ecovoltaics, Janta’s solar towers are a great new example showcasing the incredible potential of the ongoing photovoltaics revolution. At a time of skyrocketing electricity prices and nonsensical White House attacks sabotaging the clean energy industries already providing most new U.S. generation capacity, it’s more important than ever to ensure that new clean energy designs are free to build and to boost affordability for American households! State leaders can help accelerate solar power progress by ensuring maximally supportive legal, regulatory, and permitting incentives. We must make it as fast and easy as possible to build cheap, clean electricity for America.
