Australia is launching a HISTORIC Solar Sharer program!

Tell Congress to defend U.S. clean energy projects!

Amid a nationwide home solar and battery boom already producing the world’s cheapest electricity, the government of Australia has announced a pioneering new Solar Sharer program to provide their people with three hours of free electricity per day thanks to the influx of clean electrons. It starts in three big states in July 2026 (including homeowners, renters, and everyone!) and could roll out beyond that in 2027.

This Solar Sharer program is actually an even better deal than it looks because of how it synergizes with the rest of the electrotech revolution. The Australian government is now actively pursuing a home battery rollout, and early results show 43,517 installations totaling 825 MWh  from July through early September 2025 alone — a rate of over 888 households per day.  With Solar Sharer, those Aussie families will also be able to fill up their home batteries and EVs for free during those three hours and then use that power for the rest of the day! And people without batteries will still benefit immensely from the hours of free power and the shifting of demand into those hours lowering electricity bills for the rest of the day.

“People who are able to move electricity use into the zero-cost power period will benefit directly, whether they have solar panels or not and whether they own or rent, and the more people take up the offer and move their use, the greater the system benefits that lower costs for all electricity users will be,”

— Chris Bowen, Energy Minister of Australia.

Australia’s launch of Solar Sharer will be looked back on as a historic shift. The clean energy revolution is now delivering vast and undeniable nationwide household-level paradigm shifts for those nations smart enough to build out Earth’s amazing new solar and battery systems. Many more countries will likely be able to roll out hours of free power in the years ahead. Electricity abundance is awesome!

And yet, as Australia announces three hours of free electricity incoming and keeps building out solar and battery systems across the nation, the U.S. government is still actively sabotaging efforts to harvest and store power from the Sun and winds to provide Americans with clean, cheap power. The Esmeralda 7 solar-plus-storage project would have been the largest in the nation, building 6.2 GW of solar plus 5.2 GW of battery storage on public lands in the Nevada desert. The White House canceled it for no good reason at all. Same story with the Grain Belt Express clean power transmission line, a multitude of offshore wind projects, and many more. Federal review for clean energy projects is now being actively perverted into an excuse to slow them down until they fail. The Solar Energy Industry Association of America calculates that political attacks on solar and battery storage alone (not even counting the president’s “war on wind”) is now threatening the viability of over 500 in-development energy projects totaling 116 gigawatts (116,000 MW!) of new power-generating capacity. That’s half of all new proposed power-generating projects from all energy sources in America right now!

Frankly, this is getting embarrassing. The United States is now experiencing an entirely self-imposed government-mandated electricity shortage. American families’ power bills are skyrocketing, and their government keeps canceling clean power projects while the rest of the world is building out the cheapest electricity in history at an ever-accelerating rate.  In China, data centers are treated as a welcome “power sink” to soak up excess energy, because they have so much clean power coming online that they’re having to waste it via “curtailment” for lack of demand! As Republican Utah Governor Spencer Cox said after the Esmeralda 7 cancelation, “This is how we lose the AI/energy arms race with China.”

American companies and households want to build clean energy — there are still some hard-won solar and wind farms getting built! — but an ideologically brain-poisoned executive branch is dedicated to making it as hard as possible for them to do so. Congress must step in and forcibly restore some sanity by any means necessary, reestablishing the legislative role as a coequal branch of government and stopping the executive branch from sabotaging America’s much-needed clean energy build-outs.
