Tell Congress to unleash American clean energy!

From January through September 2025, solar and wind together met over 100% of global increase in electricity demand! Power demand rose by 603 terawatt-hours compared to Jan-Sep 2024, but solar generation rose by 498 TWh and wind rose by 137 TWh, totaling 635 TWh. Fossil fuel electricity generation declined by 17 TWh in those nine months, the first decline since the COVID pandemic.

China continues to build a world-changingly gigantic amount of newly dominant solar power. From January through October 2025, China reportedly built 252.87 GW (252,870 MW) of new solar capacity, up by a whopping 39% year-on-year from the first ten months of 2024. For context, that 252.87 GW build-out likely amounts to more solar than the entire non-China rest of the world built in all of 2024! Hundreds of miles of ultra-high-voltage power transmission lines are rapidly spreading across the country.

Also notable is China’s 30% month-to-month solar growth rebound from September to October, indicating that investor confidence is rising again after a brief slowdown when the CCP introduced new renewables pricing mechanism removing guaranteed returns.

China’s total national installed power-generating capacity from all sources has reached 3.75 terawatts (3.75 TW = 3,750 GW = 3,750,000 MW), 1.14 TW of which is solar capacity alone! For context, the U.S. had slightly less than 1.3 TW of capacity from all sources in 2024. Chinese solar capacity alone will likely exceed all U.S. power capacity within months.

Cutting-edge new energy storage solutions are also rapidly scaling up in China. A deal was recently signed to build a 20 GWh factory in Sichuan making fast-advancing sodium ion battery technology, which uses much cheaper materials than industry-standard lithium ion. Critical minerals-free sodium-ion manufacturing is scaling up fast, removing one of the last roadblocks to effectively unlimited energy storage.

In this context, the American government’s willful sabotage of domestic clean energy industries becomes more and more blindingly irresponsible every day. The White House has capriciously canceled vital energy abundance projects, including the Grain Belt Express transmission line, a multitude of planned offshore wind farms, and the Esmeralda 7 solar-plus-battery-storage project in Nevada that would have been the largest in the nation.

The United States is now experiencing an entirely self-imposed government-mandated electricity shortage. American families’ power bills are skyrocketing, and their government keeps canceling many clean power projects (that the market wants to build!) while the rest of the world is building out the cheapest electricity in history at an ever-accelerating rate. It would be difficult to craft a U.S. energy policy more perfectly calculated to advance China’s global role at the expense of America’s. Congress must step in and forcibly restore some sanity by any means necessary, reestablishing the legislative role as a coequal branch of government and stopping the executive branch from sabotaging America’s much-needed clean energy build-out.
