In January 2026, the National Park Service removed a sign at Fort Sumter that highlighted an existential threat to the site—climate-fueled sea level rise, coastal erosion, and flooding, which will leave much of the area underwater by 2100. It doesn't matter that the sign was purely educational, or in place to protect a historic site—all the Trump administration cares about is continuing their war on climate science.
