Every year, thousands of bears are killed after being lured out with piles of junk food like donuts, candy, and grease. While wildlife officials warn the public against feeding bears, which can drive dangerous human–bear conflicts, bear baiting is still allowed on many federal lands. The Don’t Feed the Bears Act (H.R. 4422) would end this practice and promote responsible wildlife management.
