Tell Congress to pass the FREEDOM Act and speed up clean power!

After overcoming two decades of permitting delays (permitting took 17 years, construction took just 3!) the largest-yet U.S. clean energy project has finally come online! The SunZia wind farm in New Mexico has 916 turbines totaling 3.5 GW (3,500 MW) of capacity! That’s enough to supply 3 million people, or about 1% of the entire nation’s electricity needs. A 550-mile power transmission line exports clean electrons to California. This historic project has had to be deliberately quiet to avoid White House attacks, with no official announcement made when it came online.

Furthermore, after numerous court losses, the White House regime appears to have failed in their blatantly illegal attempts to sabotage several already-under-construction American offshore wind farms! Five such clean power-generating artificial reefs are now under construction (some already with grid-connected turbines): Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind off Virginia, Revolution Wind off Rhode Island, Vineyard Wind off Massachusetts, and Sunrise Wind and Empire Wind both off New York.

However, outrageous weaponization of red tape to sabotage American clean energy is still underway. After several previous delay stratagems have been ruled illegal by judges, it looks like the White House is now using completely spurious “national security” grounds to block wind farms, with a Defense Department review that used to take a few days now stretching on interminably with no end in sight. An estimated 165 to 250 large wind farm projects are now being blocked for no reason at all, a psychotically pointless hobbling of the U.S. grid as electricity prices skyrocket!

Yet despite all this, America’s domestic clean energy industry is providing almost all new-built U.S. electricity-generating capacity! Solar is set to provide 51%, batteries 28%, and wind 14% of the record-high 86 GW of new U.S. power capacity planned for 2026, with gas just 7%.  There’s still amazing renewables progress happening across America — but it’s being made way, way slower, smaller, and more difficult than it should be due to a surge of insane and corrupt political attacks by the current White House on top of longstanding red tape and permitting hurdles. For context, China built 315 GW of new solar power and 119 GW of new wind power in 2025.

We shouldn’t have to fight hard for years to build win/win clean electricity projects!

The multitudes of as-yet-unbuilt clean energy projects blocked by the White House’s insane ideological attacks represent a cornucopia of economic opportunity, abundant energy, and environmental benefits that are being thrown away. Congress must stand up for American industry and pass the FREEDOM Act, a new bipartisan permitting reform bill that includes extremely badly needed new legal protections to prevent the President abusing executive powers to cancel or pause energy projects.
